Following training activities in Gilgit, Phonics Club continued its April 2025 pilot-project work with a professional development programme in Skardu at AKRSP.

Conducted by Dr. Fatima Tuz Zahra, the programme focused on developing educator capacity and supporting effective classroom implementation of phonics-based literacy instruction.

Learning, Application and Sustainability

High-quality teacher development requires more than a single presentation.

Educators benefit from understanding teaching principles, observing practical methods and having opportunities to reflect on how those approaches can be adapted for their learners.

The Skardu programme supported this progression by placing professional learning within the context of classroom implementation.

Supporting Literacy Beyond Major Urban Centres

Phonics Club values the opportunity to work with educators across diverse regions.

Extending literacy training to Gilgit and Skardu represents an important step towards creating broader access to professional development and supporting sustainable improvement in literacy education.
