Strengthening Early Literacy at Lahore American School

Phonics Club continued its commitment to strengthening early literacy education with a professional development session conducted at Lahore American School in November 2024.

The training was conducted by Anum Zehra Zaidi and brought together educators interested in strengthening their understanding of effective phonics-based literacy instruction.

The programme provided participants with opportunities to explore how systematic and engaging phonics teaching can support children during the crucial early stages of reading and writing development.

From Methodology to Classroom Practice

Effective professional development goes beyond introducing teaching concepts. Teachers need opportunities to understand how literacy principles can be translated into practical classroom experiences.

During the session, emphasis was placed on developing confident instructional practice and creating learning environments in which children actively participate in literacy development.

Teachers were encouraged to consider how clear modelling, multisensory learning and carefully sequenced instruction can help children build stronger foundations for reading, spelling and writing.
